Company History of Travelodge

Travelodge is a budget hotel chain that was founded in the United States in 1939. The company was originally called “Sleepy Bear Motel” and was located in San Diego, California. The motel featured a bear mascot, which became a popular icon for the brand.

In 1954, the company changed its name to “Travelodge” and began franchising its operations. The company grew rapidly, with hundreds of Travelodge hotels opening throughout the United States in the following decades.

In 1985, Travelodge expanded to the United Kingdom, opening its first hotel in London. The company’s growth in the UK was fueled by its focus on providing affordable and convenient accommodation options for travelers.

In 2003, the Travelodge brand was acquired by the private equity firm, Permira, which led to a period of rapid expansion for the company. Travelodge opened hundreds of new hotels throughout the UK in the following years, cementing its position as one of the country’s largest hotel chains.

My Travel Lodge Review

Second time staying in a Travelodge and it was a really nice experience, the staff were so nice and welcoming towards me, everything was simple, the price was extremley reasonable.

The rooms were really nice and spacious, for the price i was expecting worse but they were really well furnished! The beds were comfortable, there was a 22″ Television in our room which i thought was a nice touch.

Also the parking facilities were brilliant, the car park was in our view of the room, as well as the park outside which was a nice scenic touch to the view. The bathroom was really nice, had all the facillities we needed including towels etc, which was good.

Overall i was really pleased with my stay at the Travelodge, highly recommend it to anyone staying over night in any city, town or anywhere! Really nice experience!

Travelodge Review

I am a travelling salesman for a textiles firm so I am always in need of somewhere to stay whilst I am out and about on my business each day as I travel all over the United Kingdom to obtain new clients.

I have been a regular at Travelodge for the past couple of years as I have always found that they offer not only cheap and clean rooms but also they are always readily available to help you the best they can by offering advice on places to eat and so forth.

Recently I stayed for five nights at the Travelodge in Crewe and found this to be one of the best of the bunch. The hotel was so clean and tidy that it almost looked brand new and once again the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful.

I will definitely continue to use this great company on my travels as for me they are the best in the UK and would highly recommend them to all of you.

My Travelodge Experience

I have stayed at many hotels over the years as i tend to do a lot of travelling through work but none that I have stayed at can compare to the service and quality of the travelodge chain.

Each and every time I have stayed at a travelodge location I have been extremely satisfied from start to finish with both service and quality. Their rooms are always immaculate and spotless and always have fresh sheets and towels and if you ever have a problem the staff are always more than happy to help.

They are also very good on price and much lower than many not so good chains that I will not mention.

As far as I am concered I would have no trouble recommending travelodge to anyone looking for quick and comfortable accommodation.

Ild just like to say how disappointed we were on only our second visit to a Travel lodge Hotel. The Peartree, Oxford, hotel was in great need of a coat of paint throughout. The room was tacky along with the rest of the hotel. There was a large crack in the sink. The bath/shower had only one small piece of soap to be used by the two of us.

I used to be affialiated to the catering industry and am sorry to say that I would certainly not recommend a Travel lodge.

Travelodge Reviews

I have stayed in many Travelodge’s over the years as I do a lot of travelling a I an a freelance photographer and am always up and down the country and rarely am at home.

I have to say that I continue to use Travelodge for my accommodation as they always have rooms ready to book and they are incredibly well priced when compared to similar companies offering the same service.

What I like most about Travelodge is that although they are very cheap they do not in any way compromise quality and their rooms are always well presented and very clean and always have fresh sheets which I have learnt from experience is very rare in places like this.

The staff also are very good and know exactly what they are doing and will bend over backwards to help you with any additional items or services you may require such as little things like borrowing an iron and so on.

In my humble opinion Travelodge are the best provider of high quality but cheap rooms in the United Kingdom and I will continue to use them as long as they maintain this very high standard.

Travel Lodge reviewing – Crewe

Staff – Very friendly

Rooms – really clean indeed

Overall experience – Excellent

I am a salesman so spend a lot of time staying in accommodation away from home and once again I have been extremely satisfied with the service I have received from Travel Lodge. As soon as I arrived I was greeted by a very happy and helpful chap who took my details and showed me to my room.

The room was on the first floor as I requested as I had a bad leg and could not negotiate stairs at that time and was also very clean and presentable. After I had settled into my room I became hungry so went back to reception to sere what services were available. Unfortunately this particular travel Lodge did not sell food but the receptionist was quick to offer me many solutions by naming numerous local eateries in the nearby area which was excellent to know.

The pub I chose was just as he said perfect and the food was beautiful and I even got the chance to watch a bit of the football whilst I was having dinner. I returned to my room and made full use of my downtime as I had a busy day scheduled for the following day. That night I slept like a baby and did not hear a sound all night which was great.

I awoke very happy and refreshed and then set about my daily work load with a spring in my step. I would definitely return to this Travel Lodge without a doubt and cannot recommend it enough to all.

I have stayed in many Travelodges around the country and have always found them to be clean and the staff to be very friendly as well as being one of the most competitive on price also.

I also like the fact that you pay per room rather than per person which is very beneficial when on the road with my boyfriend as it saves us quite a bit of money in the long run.

Very good service and very good hotels so would certainly recommend.

I stayed at the tower bridge Travelodge recently whilst in London and found it to be very good indeed.

The room was very clean and had been freshly changed and the maid service each day was of the same high standard.

The bar downstairs was particularly friendly and informal which was nice and was easy to relax in after a long days work.

I will sure be back again the next time I am down.

Keep up the good work.

I was called away to a conference in a very last minute fashion in Bolton just before Christmas last year so did not have time to make any reservations at a hotel so decided to book into a Travelodge.

I had never stayed at a Travelodge before as I always try to stay away from the more cheaper forms of accommodation due to some bad experiences when I was younger. I finished my conference for the day and travelled back to the Bolton Travelodge which was located just by the local train station.

I did not expect much but when I arrived I was more than pleasantly surprised by the cleanliness of the place and indeed the room I was staying in. The staff at the hotel were also very helpful and actually carried my bags to the room which I did not expect. The room may have lacked slightly in the décor department but is was extremely clean and had all the necessities where I needed them.

After two nights at the Travelodge I was still just as happy as I would have been in any of my usual upper class hotels which was very surprising.. I would definitely stay at a Travelodge again now after this experience and would recommend it to anyone else.
